  • Dr Ada McMahon – Female, MB, BS Eq, MRCGP (UK)
    Dr McMahon qualified from Rostov State Medical University, Russia.
    She completed her pre-registration hospital training in Staffordshire, and worked in and around London (mostly general medicine, A+E and oncology at Kings College and Royal London Hospitals), prior to training as a GP.
    She completed her GP training in Colchester in 2009 and took up a partnership in Colchester. She joined Riverside Health Centre in 2013.
    She has a special interest in Women’s health and Contraception (DRCOG 2010), and is responsible for fitting contraceptive implants and coils at the surgery. She also performs minor surgery and joint injections.
    In her spare time, she is a keen runner and particularly enjoys endurance races (half marathons or longer).
    She lives with her husband and two children.
  • Dr Simon Butcher – Male, MB. BS MRCGP
    Dr Butcher qualified from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London hospitals school of medicine and dentistry in 1999 and worked at Havering Hospitals NHS trust before training as a GP in Rainham, Essex – qualifying in 2003.
    He was formerly a partner in a large GP practice in Chelmsford – becoming senior partner in 2015.Having moved to Tendring in the Autumn of 2015, he decided to resign his partnership to join a more local practice, commencing at Riverside in October of 2017.
    He gained MRCGP in 2015 and has been training GP’s since 2010. His clinical interests are respiratory medicine and medical IT. He undertakes minor surgery and joint injection.He lives with his wife and children in St Osyth, and in any spare time he might find enjoys a game of golf.
  • Dr Joshua Arkley – Male, MBBS, MRCGP, DFSRH
    Dr Arkley is originally from Colchester and studied medicine at St George’s University of London. After qualifying he went on to complete foundation training in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich before moving back to Colchester and Tendring to complete his GP training. Since 2012 he has worked as a full time GP in the local area and in that time has gained a lot of experience covering the wide breadth of modern general practice. Having joined Riverside Health Centre as a partner in 2023 he hopes to continue to develop his clinical interests in palliative care and diabetes management. In his spare time Dr Arkley enjoys spending time with his family and going on dog walks.
  • Dr Laura Muckart – Female
    Dr Muckart qualified from Dundee Medical School in 2008. She completed her foundation doctor training in London before training as a GP in Tower Hamlets, qualifying in 2013. She has lived and worked in Colchester and the surrounding area since 2016. Dr Muckart joined the practice as a salaried GP in 2022. Her special interests include medical teaching and women’s health and contraception, including fitting implants and coils. She lives with her family and enjoys baking, painting and walking Haggis, their dog.
